GMAIL scan to email settings on Sharp MFPs

December 9, 2014

You will need to know the IP address of your Sharp MFP.

Note: Not all Sharp MFP's have the capability to scan directly to GMAIL's smtp server without using SMTP relaying (The Sharp MFP must have the SSL check box in the web interface).

If your Sharp MFP does not have the SSL check box in the web interface, you can still set it up to scan to GMAIL setting up SMTP Relaying.

Setup Instructions:

To setup your Sharp MFP to scan to email using GMAIL: Log in to the Sharp MFP web page. Click Network Settings (login: default password is admin) > Services Settings >  Click the SMTP tab and enter smtp.gmail.com for the Primary Server. Enter 587 for the Port Number.  Enter a valid email address for the Reply E-mail Address. Check the SSL box. Check the SMTP Authentication box and enter the same valid email address for the User Name and enter the Password for that email address. Click Submit when finished (See images below for example).  Click the DNS tab and enter your primary/secondary DNS IP addresses (you may use Google's global DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and domain (you can type workgroup if you don't have a domain).  Click Submit when finished.

Note:  When you receive a scan, the reply address will show the gmail address you entered previously.  You may want to change this so it shows a different (more professional) email address: System Settings > Image Send Settings > Scan Settings > Reply E-mail Address (see screenshot B at the very bottom of this article).
