Setting Up Sharp MFPs to Scan to FTP on MACs

Note: This function is not officially supported by Sharp at this time

Warning: Mac 10.7 (Lion) removes the FTP client service. (see instructions below to reinstall FTP services).


Note:  You will need the IP address of your Sharp MFP.


This tutorial shows how to install and configure the FTP service on MAC 10.4.-10.9. systems for Sharp MX series to scan to FTP, and how to setup the FTP scan destination using the built-in web interface of the Sharp MFP.

How to install ftp services on Mac 10.7 (Lion):

There are 2 ways to install FTP services on Mac 10.7:

Option 1 (manual method): Enable the ftp server using the command line interface.  Run Terminal ("Terminal" application in the Applications/Utilties folder) and enter the following command:

sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
