Here's a quick FAQ on how to find and/or set the IP address on most printers, in kind of a flowchart format. Keeping in mind, if you have a setup disc that came with your printer, that is the easiest way; or if you have the HP JetAdmin utility to "find" printers, you will be able to connect to a printer on your network by the MAC Address.

Internal Print Servers
Such as the HP JetDirect card; 610, 615, etc.

EXTERNAL PRINT SERVERS
External print servers are a little "box" that sits between the network and the printer. They can be USB or parallel. They will all have a button somewhere on them to print a status page.

Printing the status button once will print a status page on the printer which will include the IP address of the printer.

Once you have found the IP address...
There's a few things you can do.
If the printer has menu buttons on the front of it (and you are using an internal network card), then the settings are usually under "Network" or "EIO" settings to set the IP address. If the printer doesn't have menu buttons on it, then try opening your browser to the IP address that you have identified the printer as (put the IP address in the address of your browser) and see if you get a configuration that way.

Additionally, if the browser doesn't work, you can try to TELNET into the ip address. Click Start --> Run --> CMD (enter), then in the command window, type:
telnet ip.add.res.s <--- the IP Address of your printer.

Typing ? (enter) if you get the JetDirect prompt will give you all the commands.
